Sanitization Processes
Colt uses leading Data Sanitation Software for the safe removal of reusable assets. The sanitization process is certified to NIST, NIAP EAL 4+, DoD 5220.22-M, and SOX requirements. Customers can choose from any number of algorithms including 1X, 3X, and 8X data wiping protocols. All sanitization practices can be performed in-house at any of Colt’s facilities, or onsite at a Dell customer location.
Data-Sensitive Assets - the secure erasure of data from individual assets including computers, hard drives, mobile devices, and removable media
Loose Drive Management – mass erasure of large volumes of loose HDDs and SSD units
Sanitization verification – Independent verification software for assets which require sanitization following NIST 800-88 protocol
Data Erasure Process
- Assets are received and logged in Colt’s Asset Management System
- Data erasure program is booted based on the media type. For computers and other external drives, the software is booted via CD or USB drive. Colt will also bring adapters and other equipment to connect other media types to a bootable program.
- Audit log will collect relevant information on media to be sanitized, including serial numbers and host details, as applicable.
- Report initiated on an individual or bulk basis based on customer requirement.
